Imagine if we could domesticate money and make it work for the wider social and cultural benefit of local communities rather than tearing them up.
The Bijlmer Euro is an experimental currency that only circulates in the Bijlmer area of South East Amsterdam. It is based on a rcycled RFID sticker which is placed on top of standard Euro notes. So it uses the ubiquity, mobility and trust in the Euro as a vehicle for its own local currency which can offer local added value. The projects has many complex implications for development of local service as well as social and cultural benefits for the area.
Since the project is still in development we are looking for feedback and ideas.
